| Discovery of Sound in the Sea (DOSITS) - Explore the science of underwater acoustics. Find out how marine animals and humans use sound to sense their surroundings and to communicate. Hear sounds that fill the oceans. Meet scientists and investigate their tools and their exciting undersea research. | ||||

Discovery of Estuarine Environments (DOEE) - Explore estuaries and their biological communities, water properties, and environmental issues. Take a dive into Narragansett Bay or view an extensive slide show of the Bay's fish and invertebrates. This multidisciplinary site contains information on estuaries of the world, as well as teacher resources, maps, photos, and descriptions of estuarine organisms. | |||

Discovery of Coastal Environments
(DOCE) - Take virtual field trips and discover the physical
characteristics and biota of four Rhode Island coastal
ecosystems--Rocky Shore, Salt Pond, Salt Marsh, and Barrier Beach. This
educational site contains biota galleries, maps, classroom activities,
and additional resources. |

- Learn how Census of Marine Life (CoML) scientists conduct their
research and employ technology as they sample a wide variety of ocean
habitats, from coastal regions to the deepest regions of the world's

- The Education Resource Center serves teachers as a reference library
for accessing a variety of educational materials where they can preview
CD-ROMS, videos, professional journals, books, magazines, and classroom
curriculum materials. |

Coastal Institute Visitor Center
- Bring your friends and family to the Coastal Institute Visitor Center
and see Living on the Edge, an interactive science exhibit comprised of
videos, computer activities, a stream table, and dune machine -
suitable for adults and children of all ages. Also visit the Coastal
Institute Bookstore for a unique selection of marine-oriented books and
field guides, educational games and toys, gifts and jewelry, and
Graduate School of Oceanography clothing. |

Down Where the Water Is
- An updated edition of Down Where the Water Is: A Coastal Awareness
Activity Book and associated comprehensive Teacher's Guide has been
produced by URI's Office of Marine Programs. Designed for use in grades
K-3, the Activity Book and Teacher's Guide are available free from the
Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council. Books can also be
downloaded as PDF files. | |||
