Regional Competition

On February 27, 1999, OMP hosted the Rhode Island/Connecticut regional competion- the "Quahog Bowl"- as one of 16 regional competitions held throughout the country. Sixteen teams, each comprised of four high school students, an alternate, and their coaches, competed for the regional championship. The students answered rapid-fire questions on biology, chemistry, geology, physics, history, and economics of the ocean, and ocean-related current events. The top team from RI, Cranston High School West, competed in Washington, DC, at the NOSB finals in April.
