Professional Development Workshop for
Immersion Presents: Ocean Exploration

In preparation for the Immersion Presents: Ocean Exploration live broadcasts on April 20 - 24 we will be conducting a Professional Development Workshop on Tuesday and Wednesday: February 10 and 11 from 3:30 to 6:00 pm. (Educators wishing to receive RIDE PD will need to attend both sessions.)

Each of the eight Immersion Presents: Ocean Exploration suggested activities will be demonstrated and discussed, including how to adjust the difficulty of the activity to challenge your student’s abilities.  Topics specifically relevant to local educators: underwater exploration of Narragansett Bay, the R/V Okeanos Explorer,  NOAA’s only ship dedicated to mapping the ocean floor, will also be integrated.

As in all our Professional Development sessions we will show you how to incorporate the teaching of the above topics across disciplines, using the Ocean Literacy Essential Principles and Fundamental Concepts, as well as meeting the RI required Grade Span Expectations.

Cost
Each five-hour workshop fee of $100.00 per participant includes all program materials, interdisciplinary activities, including interactive Web site, expedition video, and live broadcasts.  (There will be a $100 charge to view the broadcasts for all sites that have not had an educator participate in a workshop.)
