Protomonostroma undulatum

This Chlorophyte is characterized by its light green, thin, delicate blades which are one cell layer thick (as seen in cross section here). This alga is common from winter to late spring growing attached to rocks or other algae. Here we see Protomonostroma growing epiphytically along with Porphyra on Fucus.
