Bonnemaisonia hamifera

This beautiful little Rhodophyte is characterized by its small hook-like appendages which arise from various locations on the branches. This bright pink / red alga is often found in the drift where its hooks help it to hitch a ride with other algae by becoming entangled. It may also be found growing attached to rocks and shells. Bonnemaisonia can be found here during the summer months.
